We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our Service.

About us

Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provides emergency response, prevention and protection services across the county as well as across our borders in support of our neighbouring communities. To protect our communities and respond to emergency calls we have 14 strategically positioned Fire Stations, an Emergency Communication Centre and Headquarters.

About the role

In this exciting role, you will lead and support all tender and procurement activity in relation to Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. You will be responsible for the delivery of a professional procurement service to the organisation and identifying areas where effective procurement can lead to efficiency savings across the service.

You will be accountable for the development and implementation of forward-looking procurement strategies and policies. These will be evidenced by the robust application of contract and supplier management methodologies in accordance with regional and national Fire Service guidance as appropriate.

About you

Your expertise and ability to work with others to influence and build trusting relationships will allow you to create and implement change creatively. You will work towards greater collaboration with emergency service partners, with a view to working towards the implementation of collaborative procurement strategies.

You will have membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or significant demonstrable equivalent experience. You will have substantial experience of managing complex and high value procurement and tender processes, covering the full life cycle of a project. Proven experience of negotiating and influencing is critical to this role.
