Reporting to the Head of Procurement, the role is to focus on the Estates category. Ideally candidates will have previous Estates experience, including JCT/NEC3/4 or are willing to make a commitment to learning to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become an Estates category specialist in the role. An understanding of category management principles and previous experience of applying them to any category in a clear to understand & presentable plan is a must.

The LSE is committed to net carbon zero by 2030 and therefore a candidate with a strong interest and proven proactive role in responsible procurement is desirable.

The LSE is not a contracting authority under the public contracts regulations but needs to operate under the same principles. Knowledge of both the OJEU and private sector procurement is desirable. The post holder will be considered by LSE senior stakeholders as an Expert in procurement matters and will provide in-depth technical & legal advice on Procurement Procedures and best practice (including if/when public procurement regulations and/or when TUPE legal rules apply).

Applicants should have significant experience at a Senior Procurement / Category Manager level delivering a relevant procurement service including experience of an extensive range of commodities, showing knowledge appropriate to this high value technically diverse environment.

The role requires candidates to hold MCIPS Chartered Status, however exceptional candidates that are actively working towards MCIPS would be considered and expected to complete their studies on the job with our support.

We offer an excellent occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.

The role will be based at home until further notice. In the post pandemic environment, the Department is currently consulting with managers regarding what working in the office would be like in future and it is expected to offer a form of flexible working which can be discussed further on request.

If you would like to discuss your suitability for this role, you are welcome to email the head of procurement at c.martin10@lse.ac.uk – No agencies please at this stage.

For further information about the post, please see the how to apply document, job description and the person specification.
