STAR Procurement is the shared procurement service for Stockport, Trafford, Tameside and Rochdale Councils. The team is employed by Trafford Council and is located at one of Trafford Councils offices in Sale. Currently all staff have been working from home since March 2020 and will continue to do so during the lockdown restrictions.
STAR provides a strategic procurement service, ensuring that its Councils obtain best value when contracting with third party suppliers. STAR works across all four Councils and other Partners; the team is currently working from home full time. Post pandemic, there will still be a requirement to travel to multiple offices across GM. New technology is now being used to hold meetings between multiple partners, potentially reducing the requirement to travel (MS Teams and Zoom).
STAR delivers saving, social value and many other key requirements for the partner councils via its strategic procurement approach. It is a very ambitious organisation that is continually expanding, Tameside being the latest of its key strategic partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing dynamic team.
