Global Procurement Manager - Metal Commodities (Stamping & Bearings)

This global engineering and manufacturing organization is looking for a talented procurement professional or engineer with a strong commercial acumen to join their procurement team in Porto. You will be taking on responsibility for a critical business category within the metal commodities spend worth over €50M per year. This position will require a strong technical knowledge of heavy manufacturing and production process to work closely with internal design and production teams as well as key suppliers in the sector to ensure best cost and quality is achieved.
As the Global Procurement Manager for Metal Commodities, your responsibilities will include:
- Develop the sourcing strategy for the stamping & bearings spends as well as other direct materials that fall under your scope of responsibility
- Act as primary point of contact for supplier selection, supplier onboarding and ongoing supplier relationship management
- Provide subject matter expertise on both technical and commercial topics related to metal commodities and materials
- Drive continuous improvement to the purchasing process through six sigma and lean manufacturing methodologies
- Work closely with New Product Development and Engineering teams in understanding design, cost-modelling and production techniques
The Global Procurement Manager for Metal Commodities will require the following skills in ordered to succeed in this position:
- A technical educational background; preferably in an engineering discipline
- Fluent in English; Additional EU language also highly desirable
- Proven experience working in a procurement, sourcing, supply chain or engineering role that provides you with the relevant knowledge of the metals, stamping & bearings commodities
- A strong background in project management to be able to coordinate multiple simultaneous programs
- Excellent commercial ability when it comes to contract management and negotiation
