This highly ambitious organisation formed to address a significant gap in the energy sector seeks an experience procurement and commercial director to join it's leadership and they enters a critical phase in their delivery.

They're entering a key point in the organisations growth as they look to launch their product in the second half of 2021. The Commercial Director will work closely with the Managing Director and Finance Director to develop and implement strategy, growth agenda and develop a team with 5 direct reports.

The commercial director will have the chance to work within a fascinating technical development area in the smart energy space and will be at the forefront of the climate/green energy challenge. Procurement & Commercial Director Role Responsibilities:

  • Reporting into the Managing Director, the Commercial Director lead will lead all commercial activity, with a focus on cost efficiency, delivery performance and effective contractual agreements
  • Build and establish the functional capabilities of the Commercial & Procurement function
  • Lead the commercial and procurement teams in delivering a wide variety of complex commercial optimised equipment and services
  • Secure & develop key stakeholder relationships, working to ensure confidence in effective commercial delivery
  • Lead all commercial aspects of key delivery contracts with vendors, customers as well as other service providers
  • Manage a spend of circa £300m
  • Collaborate effectively with the leadership team to ensure that delivery and service contracts meet the needs of the business and its customers
  • Ensure there is effective governance and commercial controls to execute and control the business
  • Deliver commercial plans, budget requirements and Performance Tracking
  • Work collaboratively with partner organisations to improve efficiency and ensure incentives align to company objectives

Key requirements

  • Excellent procurement/commercial background in leadership positions, with experience developing and leading teams whilst working closely with c-suite stakeholders
  • The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IT/Technology implementation programs within a leading procurement function
  • Highly adept in working alongside and influencing senior stakeholders to develop and implement strategy
  • Ideal candidates with have energy industry exposure, whether as a management consultant or internal team member
  • Excellent communicator with strong commercial acumen required to effectively build relationships with the internal and external stakeholder base
  • Minimum bachelors degree required
