GBRF is seeking to hire an enthusiastic Procurement Professional to join our small Procurement Team. The Procurement approach within the business is a devolved function to the departments and not a category buying structure.

Based in Doncaster office, reporting to and supporting the Procurement Manager, in delivering a first-class support service to the business, you will act as a point of contact for specific heads of departments e.g. IT, HR and Finance.  The role is primarily office based in Doncaster but will include occasional travel to other GBRf locations and if required supplier sites to support the SME’s.

Person Profile

To succeed in this position, you will need to be a self-starter with exceptional communication, influencing and problem-solving skills and be able to hit the ground running. IT knowledge and a desire to exploit software including but not limited to Office365 platforms to improve the efficiency & transparency of procurement processes, in addition to increasing the availability of information on the P-Hub to promote best practice / policy compliance.

Previous experience with supplier assurance and services (Indirect) procurement is a key requirement as you will be tasked with initiating the assurance process with new suppliers, maintaining and or developing High Risk qualified supplier and contract matrices and wider rollout of the new supplier assurance portal.  A keen interest in sustainability will also be an advantage as we build on our values and the inherent environmental benefits associated with Railfreight, to further develop ESG policy and place more emphasis on the 3 P’s in sourcing and supplier selection.  

You should be resourceful, resilient, adaptable and organized with the ability to build rapport with internal customers and suppliers.   The ability to work as part of a small close knit but remote team is essential as is a preparedness to work on your own initiative when required. The ability to use spreadsheets and analyse large amounts of data.

  • Support and assist the Procurement Manager
  • Maintain GBRf qualified status and access to industry supplier databases
  • Maintain and develop supplier assurance information/ circulate MI
  • Set up a procurement contracts register and an approved supplier list
  • Attend budget holder and other review group meetings
  • Develop internal resources to raise awareness of process, best practice, risk areas

Essential:

  • GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
  • Procurement experience (Corporate Services/Indirect)
  • Experience working with supplier assurance processes
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Clean UK driving license
  • Willingness to travel if/when required
  • CIPS qualified (Advanced Certificate or higher) desirable

Desirable:

  • Good Understanding of contract terms
  • Experience of supplier negotiations
