Our procurement team are a vital part of Norfolk County Council, responsible for ensuring the best possible value for the wide range of products and services we buy, which in turn brings huge benefits to the county as a whole. We’re looking for two Senior Procurement Professionals to join the team and play a key role in the negotiation and delivery of complex, high value and commercially sustainable solutions.
This role will involve working at every stage of large-scale procurement projects, with the ultimate aim of obtaining optimum solutions for services or products at the right time, quality and best value for money. The internal job title for this role is Senior Category Management and Procurement Specialist, and as such you will also be involved in championing and embedding a strategic category management approach, thus contributing to the continual improvement of the procurement function.
You’ll need to be comfortable taking the lead in competitive dialogue procurements, using your relationship building and influencing skills both internally and externally to achieve the best outcomes.
You’ll also need a solid understanding of project management processes and will be up to date on your knowledge of the legal complexities of public sector procurement.
Experience wise, you’ll need a proven track record of experience in a senior level procurement role within a public sector environment. You’ll have demonstrable experience working on complex, high value procurement projects, and you’ll be logical, fair and pragmatic in your approach, always looking to achieve the best results. You’ll also be happy to challenge existing ways of working, using your knowledge of best practice and new developments to help us get even better.
It’s a broad role where you’ll be challenged every day but will have a real opportunity to make an impact, and to progress your career in the long term. In return, we can offer an inclusive working environment with work-life balance at the forefront. We have flexible, smarter working arrangements, all underpinned by leading edge technology, and we’re more than happy to hear from people who are looking to work remotely outside of Norfolk.
We might be biased, but we think it’s a great role in a great place to work. If you’re still reading, and you think you have what it takes, we would love to hear from you.
All our office-based roles are currently working from home as part of our Smarter Working plans and to support the health and safety of all our colleagues. We anticipate that working remotely will be a key feature of this role and when offices re-open your office base will be County Hall, Norwich. Our technology platform and equipment are first class, enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
