Job description

You will work with a diverse, committed and energetic team of colleagues who all bring different skills and experience to the team, creating an environment of continual learning. You are likely to work with military colleagues, civil servants and consultants - of all grades and ranks.

You will support the strategic relationship with suppliers and senior internal stakeholders while building collaboration within and across organisational boundaries. You will develop and manage key sourcing activities to meet project goals while minimising risk and ensuring Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is considered. You will be the trusted advisor in sourcing and commercial initiatives to both, stakeholders and your team members, ensuring compliance to the appropriate processes and operating procedures.

United States Visiting Forces (4 posts)

You will be an integral member of the United States Visiting Forces (USVF) team, which is dedicated to delivering a significant capital works Programme (£3bn) and hard FM delivery (£250M p/a) across the UK in support of the USVF. Our purpose is the development and continued improvement of the programmes in work today and in the future pipeline to the benefit of the service personnel and their families that live work and train on the MOD estate.

You will have the opportunity to provide commercial advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, some of whom may be senior members to the MOD. You will be accountable to the Assistant Deputy Head for any commercial activity you undertake.

Stakeholder engagement across DIO, Industry and wider Government will be an important aspect of your role so you will require excellent communication skills.

Location

Our DIO Commercial Teams are based across the UK including Andover, Catterick, Glasgow, Sutton Coldfield, Whittington and Wyton. We offer a flexible base location for this role and will therefore make one of these locations your duty station where possible. Work location will be agreed once the successful candidate has been selected.

Applicants should be aware that as part of the Defence Estates Optimisation Programme it is anticipated that the DIO Sutton Coldfield site will close, and all staff will be relocated to Defence Medical Services (Whittington) near Lichfield as the preferred new site option. This relocation is currently expected to occur in the Summer of 2021.

Currently, staff are Working from Home (WFH). Once lockdown restrictions are phased out the working pattern will be a combination of WFH, Office based, potential travel to MoD sites throughout the UK. Expectation is to be office based 2 to 3 days per week and travelling 2 to 4 days per month. Depending on duty location, on appointment this may involve overnight trips. Office days will be flexible around project meetings/activities scheduled for the week.

These roles will require travel within UK locations and occasional overnight stay.  

UK Driving Licence is desirable, but not essential
