The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is a world leading competition agency ensuring markets work well in the interests of consumers, businesses and the economy. The commercial team plays a pivotal role in building the necessary capability to deliver CMA's hugely important work, whilst ensuring value for money. The role of Deputy Head of Commercial and Procurement offers a stimulating opportunity to lead and manage day to day and operational activities of the department, delivering innovative, compliant and effective commercial arrangements in an exciting and diverse environment with contracts ranging from £10,000 to over £2million in value.

In addition to leading and managing a strong commercial team on a day-to-day basis, as Deputy Head of Commercial and Procurement, you will use your knowledge of the marketplace to maximise value and manage our commercial portfolio in innovative ways, including supporting complex change programmes and use of joint ventures, outsourcing or best-in class contracting approaches. In particular you will play a key supporting role in an exciting programme of transformation, building the capability to deliver an exceptional quality of service in the post Brexit environment.

To be considered for this key role you must be able to evidence a proven track record of managing the day-to-day operation of a commercial team, combined with extensive experience of contracting and supplier relationship management, including in the areas of technology, property and market research. The successful candidate will have the ability to provide strong and inspirational leadership to deliver results, recognise outstanding performance and deal effectively with under performance. Government Commercial Organisation accreditation, or confirmation of a willingness to work to achieve such accreditation is also required.

In return the CMA is a hugely rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee well-being programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.
