Are you a Commercial professional looking for a new role? If so, we want to hear from you!

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join the IWS (Information and Workplace Solutions) team, who are central to HM Treasury's operations. Your commercial expertise will help craft the strategy for service delivery. No two days are the same, so you'll need to be flexible and committed, and not afraid of surprises!

As Commercial Manager, you will:

  • Represent the commercial function at governance boards providing the required information to support decision making
  • Manage our suppliers against their contractual SLA's, review and analyse supplier spending identifying areas for saving and efficiencies
  • Assess commercial data for both accuracy and audit purposes, maintain and own formal channels of communication with suppliers, resolving issues and setting agendas
  • Lead on the commercial elements of all procurements and supplier negotiation processes.

This is not an exhaustive list, so we need someone with the skills and motivation to engage positively with all of our suppliers, get the best value out of our contracts and work collaboratively with our partners at all levels. You'll have the confidence to work without close supervision, and you'll be encouraged to develop your own style and approach. If this sounds like you, please apply now.

Benefits of working for HM Treasury include:

  • 25 days’ annual leave (rising to 30 after 5 years), plus 8 public holidays and the Queen’s birthday (unless you have a legacy arrangement as an existing Civil Servant)
  • Flexible working patterns (part-time, job-share, condensed hours)
  • Access to a generous Defined Benefit pension scheme with employer contributions.
  • Onsite restaurant and coffee bar. The London office also offers a gym, showers and prayer room
  • Access to a cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme, season ticket advances and payroll giving
  • Access to a retail discounts and cashback site
  • A Rental Deposit Advance Scheme to help meet the total costs of deposits for privately rented homes
  • A range of active staff networks, based around interests (e.g. analysts, music society, sports and social club) and diversity (e.g. women in the Treasury, ethnic minority network, LGBT* network, faith and belief network)

Our recruitment process is underpinned by the principle of appointment based on fair and open competition and appointment on merit, as outlined in the Civil Service Commissioners’ Recruitment Principles. If you feel your application has not been treated in accordance with these principles and you wish to make a complaint, you should in the first instance contact HMT by email at: hrrecruitment@hmtreasury.gov.uk. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive, you can contact the Civil Service Commission, which regulates all Civil Service recruitment.
