IT & Digital Category Procurement Lead

Global Aerospace & Technology Major

Surrey (Flexible Working)

£60 - 67,000 + Full CIPS Sponsorship

Due to significant growth in the context of a company-wide IT transformation, this multinational technology and aerospace organisation are looking for a Strategic Procurement Lead to oversee all aspects of their IT and digital categories. Reporting directly into the Head of Procurement and leading a small team, this greenfield role offers the autonomy to help shape procurement strategy and drive real change within the indirect procurement function.

The firm is currently undergoing a £100 million-pound digital transformation, touching all areas of the business across all the 6 countries it operates in. The Category Lead can expect to be taking full responsibility for the management of business-critical suppliers who are vital to delivering for the organisation's clients. This includes the management of technology and digital services which will power the organisation over the long-term.

Category Procurement Lead responsibilities will include:

  • Working across the full scope of IT and digital procurement categories including software (SLAs), hardware, telecoms, cyber security and digital with direct responsibility for the sourcing of new suppliers, negotiations, contract management and performance monitoring
  • Setting both strategic sourcing guidelines and implementing procurement policies, whilst liaising with key stakeholders to determine the direction of the organisations digital transformation
  • Assisting with the role out and management of new IT systems including P2P software and SAP systems, delegating work to a small team of skilled Sourcing Managers
  • Managing supplier relationships on a global scale and ensuring that those on the supply list are properly always engaged and managed within the parameters of a highly regulated environment.

The successful candidate will have to demonstrate: -

  • At least 6 years procurement experience, including strategic sourcing and contract management, with specific in-depth knowledge of the IT and digital categories.
  • Experience in industrial or engineering sectors is beneficial.
  • Previous experience of working on digital transformation programmes or working within an organisation undergoing technological change is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and spoken, with the ability to lead negotiations and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong educational track record, CIPS accreditation highly desirable
  • Full unrestricted right to work in the UK
