Procurement Category Manager (Food Spend) - £38-40K + 10% Bonus - London + Flex Working
This London based unique and innovative food services company is seeking an ambitious and experienced senior buyer to work across multiple categories, interacting with complex suppliers across the globe.
The business delivers high-end, quality foods to huge clients within the commercial and domestic sectors, providing diverse products and solutions for all their customers. They are passionate about what they cook, serve, and eat and therefore are searching for a procurement individual who share these same values; as well as encouraging a dynamic individual who is keen to learn and progress through the company.
Outline of the role:
- Work closely with senior managers and head of procurement to Improve operational efficiency to meet the demands of the company and customers
- Deal with a large budget implementing cost saving initiatives and negotiate complex contract terms adapting to the market and advising stakeholders of potential impact
- Interact with complex suppliers across the globe understanding seasonal nuances within the food industry to manage and develop the supply base, ensuring that the required quality, price, and service standards are met.
- Day-to-day management, building and maintaining relationships, setting examples to all team members, leading performance reviews and strategic buying to support brand expansion
Person Specification:
- Degree level or above
- Confidence with numbers and IT skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Good interpersonal skills and communication
- 5-7+ years of experience in buying / procurement and working under pressure
- Basic understanding of the food industry, food safety/quality and Customer Audit Compliance
Desirable:
- CIPS
- Fluency in second language (Advantageous)
- Previous experience in food-related roles with international supply base
- Experience in people management and supplier contract negotiations
