Pride in the work
About us
If there is one characteristic that marks us out at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), it is pride. We are proud to use our professionalism and expertise to safeguard animal and plant health across the UK for the benefit of the environment, the economy and the millions of people who live here.
Join us and you will be part of a diverse team of nearly 3,000 skilled and committed professionals who share this inspiring goal. Together, we protect endangered wildlife, conduct research into bacterial, viral and parasitic diseases and vaccines, facilitate the international trade in animals, identify and control endemic and exotic diseases, and manage a programme of bee inspections, diagnostics, research, training, and so much more.
The Role
In this role, you’ll manage a defined and varied portfolio within APHA working closely with our operational and technical leads. Providing professional contract management and commercial advice to senior leaders across APHA, you’ll frequently be dealing with highly complex and sensitive contracts where there may be very few providers and a high degree of interdependency between suppliers.
You’ll ensure that contractual risks and issues, operational and financial performance, are monitored effectively and that our overall contractual compliance is reported effectively.
You’ll also provide support and advice to internal colleagues in relation to procurement procedures, managing contract reviews, renewals and terminations and act as the interface with procurement and legal teams.
About you
We’re looking for someone with significant experience of working within a contract management or related environment in a large, complex organisation. In addition you’ll need:
- A strong proficiency in Maths and English Language
- An advanced understanding of contract management principals and relevant legislation
- An in depth knowledge and demonstrable experience of negotiating with suppliers, customer engagement techniques and performance management of suppliers
- Strong IT skills including Word and Excel
Benefits
Learning and Development tailored to your role, including access to the accredited Cabinet Office training in Contract Management.
