The Role

In this role, you’ll support the Head of Contract Management in managing and mentoring the team of Contract Managers and contract support staff;

 

You’ll lead on the Scientific Contract Portfolio within the team;

You’ll maintain a detailed awareness of Defra/APHA’s operational plans, policies, procurement and contract management legislation and policy;

You’ll be the principal point of contact for external suppliers and manage the commercial and contractual relationship of a defined portfolio of contracts;

You’ll also make sure that you keep up to date with reporting and documentation, whilst making sure that the Head of Contract Management, Directors and senior leaders are kept informed with relevant data.

About you

We’re looking for someone with significant experience of working within a contract management or related environment in a large, complex organisation, preferably in the public sector. In addition you’ll need:

  • A strong proficiency in Maths and English Language
  • An advanced understanding of contract management principals and relevant legislation
  • An in depth knowledge and demonstrable experience of negotiating with suppliers, customer engagement techniques and performance management of suppliers
  • Strong IT skills including Word and Excel
