Category Manager - Procurement x 2
To promote a flexible workforce, the University will consider applications from individuals seeking full time, part time, job share, or term time only working arrangements. Remote working can be accommodated.
The University is changing the way it procures its goods and services by board level endorsement of a Procurement Enhancement Project which has major project status, reports to the University Executive via an approved management structure and is fully aligned with delivering the aims and objectives of the University’s Strategic Plan.
It’s our objective to enhance the procurement function to provide strategic direction and coordination to ensure value for money. This will be achieved through sustainable effective and efficient procurement plans and strategies. These include the management of risks and compliance with UK procurement law, actively engaging all relevant stakeholders, facilitating innovation and continuously improving all of the University’s procurement activities in support of the University’s strategy. A key enabler to achieving this is to adopt a category management approach, therefore we are recruiting 2 x Category Managers to lead the development and implementation of new ways of working, supported by key stakeholder representatives and a data analyst.
The Category Managers will play a vital role in delivering our objectives. This will include working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver benefits, including cashable savings, in key categories of expenditure in support of the overall project plan.
It is anticipated that the post holder will have significant experience in the field of category management and supplier relationship management. As well as being an excellent proactive relationship manager, you will be the specialist for a selected range of product and services, providing professional and specialist procurement advice to internal stakeholders on all aspects of procurement law and operating practices when managing their procurement projects.
