Buyer/Procurement Category Assistant - Research & Development Organisation - £25k - £30k + Package - Bristol + remote working
Leading Research & Development organisation that develop state of the sustainable engineering components and solutions, are seeking a junior procurement candidate to join their team. The role will be working closely with the procurement category lead to assist in an array of activities across the procurement lifecycle
This an excellent opportunity for either an experienced procurement candidate looking to join a stable and exciting team or an up-and-coming candidate with an enthusiasm to develop a procurement career
As a Procurement Category Assistant, you will:
- Assist the procurement category lead in managing RFP's and tenders across indirect & direct procurement spend
- Liaise with customs agents and internal stakeholders to ensure the best value and agile process for importing/exporting of goods,
- Assist the Procurement Category Lead/Advanced Procurement Category Lead and the Procurement Manager with procurement procedures to ensure that the procurement process is effective and identify any procedural improvements;
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, tenders and bids following the correct Public Sector procurement regulations.
- Build and maintain working relationships with contracted/preferred suppliers and with other third parties as required throughout the procurement process.
- Organise and conduct annual supply base rationalisation;
Experience needed:
- Ideal candidates will have strong analytical skills in order to effectively manage procurement systems and consolidate data on tools such as excel
- Demonstrable understanding of procurement process
- Strong commercial skills with the ability to analyse and negotiate best value agreements;
- Strong communication skills in order to effectively engage with stakeholders internally and externally
