Procurement Manager
We are hiring for a commercial and customer focused Procurement Manager to undertake both procurement and non-procurement commercial activities within UKRI. This role is based at British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, working alongside staff delivering and enabling world-leading interdisciplinary research in the Polar Regions.

Procurement at British Antarctic Survey
British Antarctic Survey (BAS) spend is complex and accounts for almost 10% of UKRI's total spend of more than £520m per annum. Scientific access to the polar regions requires an operational infrastructure, including research stations, ships and aircraft, to provide the facilities and level of safety required in some of the most remote and hostile parts of the planet. BAS buys a wide range of complex and sometimes unique products and services including equipment, technical services and infrastructure to support a range of end-users and remote sites. The organisation works in partnership with a shared service centre which supports contracting for common goods and services.

The role
You will provide local expertise and support to end-users to undertake a range of complex procurement tasks including sourcing and contracting. Supplying expert advice on all aspects of regulations and controls you will represent UKRI's risk appetite in procurement decisions and keep end users up to date with best practice in public procurement.
The Procurement Manager will act as an initial contact and escalation route to the local Commercial Business Partner and will support the development of local procurement and contract management skill.

About you
* MCIPs qualified or working towards
* Significant experience and knowledge of public procurement including PCR regulations and related processes
* Experience of contract and supplier management
* Experience of procurement risk identification, management and mitigation
* Able to provide leadership on the creation of clear and relevant tender evaluation models
