Head of Procurement

U.S. Embassy, London is in search of a results-driven Head of Procurement who has exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to lead our procurement team!

The Head of Procurement manages the day-to-day operations of the General Services Office (GSO) Procurement section in support of the US Mission in the UK. This position is directly responsible for procuring a vast variety of commodities and services for Mission UK, including Embassy London (approximately 45 agencies), US Consulates Belfast, Northern Ireland, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Hamilton, Bermuda in a US Mission procurement program with an annual budget of approximately $18 million USD for supplies and recurring services.

Based on an in-depth knowledge of legal and regulatory material, the head of procurement’s supervisory responsibilities include setting out the areas of responsibility of each agent and distributing work accordingly, arranging for appropriate training, motivating, appraising, and counseling staff.

The Head of Procurement also works on complex and difficult procurement strategies and actions frequently with a yearly value of over $1 million USD and other high dollar value projects.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

EDUCATION:

Must have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, Acquisitions, Finance, or equivalent. 

A Level 6 Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent graduate level procurement qualification is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Must have progressively responsible procurement experience including procurement experience with the Department of State or the public sector and general supervisory experience.

Must have an excellent knowledge of applicable EU and UK laws and fiscal legislation governing commercial transactions in the UK/EU and also have sound knowledge of local market practices.
