Senior Procurement Officer

Full Time / 37 hours per week / Fixed Term Contract for 12 months x 1 post and 1 x Permanent post.

Are you ready to join one of the largest Unitary Authorities in England as we embark upon an ambitious programme of transformation? If so come and joining the Procurement Team at Leicester City Council who have just secured £45m under the Government’s Levelling-Up  programme for multiple schemes across the city. This exciting opportunity is for a Senior Procurement Officer within our Procurement Services team. You will be working in a fast-paced highly dynamic Mayoral Authority with an annual spend of £400m, to procure a whole host of critical contracts for goods works and/or services.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Procurement Officer you will lead on a wide variety of high-profile procurement matters, working as an integral part of the project team. As such you will be expected to develop relationships with the service clients to ensure a professional service. You will also contribute to the future development of the procurement service and coach and support less experienced team members.

What You’ll Need

You’ll have significant practical experience and knowledge of procurement, tendering and contract management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this client-focused team role and experience of mentoring junior members of staff will be advantageous. ICT ability is also a must, along with excellent organisation and the ability to work under pressure.

What we can offer you

As a team with an established reputation for staff development and in an environment with a varied workload and a chance to gain experience you will have opportunity for self-development. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and flexible working. In addition, you can choose from a number of flexible benefits, including childcare vouchers, discounts on city buses and trains and help with relocation to Leicester, where appropriate. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
