About the role
As Head of Procurement for DVLA you will be responsible for protecting the commercial interests of the Agency in the delivery of its commercial activity.
You will act as head of profession in DVLA, managing a significant contractual third party spend. This is a senior management position with significant exposure at a senior level and it is vital in ensuring that DVLA leads the way in the commercial field.
Engaging with our strategic suppliers is a critical element of the role. You will be the key contact for senior stakeholders across DVLA, DfT, other government departments and externally, in relation to relevant commercial matters, giving you the opportunity to build a large and diverse network across the commercial profession.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing assurance to the Commercial Director that commercial activity is being undertaken in a manner which demonstrates compliance with legal obligations, Agency and Government Policies and prevents Procurement Fraud.
• To be the key contact for senior DVLA stakeholders in relation to commercial categories managed by the post holder. To be the escalation point for issues and concerns raised by colleagues and suppliers.
• Management responsibility for several Commercial Categories including overseeing several DVLA Strategic (Gold) contracts throughout their commercial lifecycle.
• Actively represent DVLA in commercial matters stemming from DfT / Central Government, including representation of DVLA at external meetings/ boards.
