Role Profile

ZSL is looking for a Procurement Advisor to help provide a strategic, efficient and flexible procurement service which will deliver optimum value for money, cost savings and best quality of service.

Working with the Procurement team at Historic Royal Palaces, as part of the procurement shared services arrangement with ZSL, the successful candidate will advise, train and support ZSL staff undertaking procurement and developing effective supplier relationships to help drive better procurement practice, as well as be responsible for their own sourcing and tendering activity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working both independently and in support of the Senior Procurement Manager undertaking procurement activities relating to both goods and services, such as:
    • Sourcing suppliers
    • Development and maintenance of the organisational procurement strategy
    • Develop procurement strategies for individual projects or categories including pre-tender supplier engagement and market reviews
    • Manage end to end tendering activity
    • Assist and work with colleagues to assess tender proposals for value for money and ensure preferred supplier and contract award decisions are robust
  • Assist in the development and upkeep of internal procedures and documentation in relation to UK and overseas procurement
  • Support in the development and delivery of procurement related eLearning courses and any face to face training it is agreed will be developed
  • Assist ZSL in managing commercial and reputational risks in its relations with external suppliers

Person Specification

  • Significant experience of procurement led activities ie management of end to end tender processes, supplier relationship management, contract management, & supplier due diligence activity
  • Experience in a procurement administration role
  • IT competence (Word, Excel, Forms, Internet and IT systems generally)
  • A high degree of literacy, numeracy and computer literacy
  • Experience of planning, organising and prioritising workload
  • Experience of managing internal and external relationships
  • Experience of providing an internal support service
  • An overview of contract law
  • If not already MCIPS qualified, on the path to achieving or with a strong interest in doing so
