Business Need

The supply chain manager is responsible for overseeing every stage of the supply chain. From goods coming into the business, flow of work on the shop floor, to goods being shipped to customers on time.

The Supply Chain Manager will need to:

  • Have a good understanding of ERP systems.
  • Ensure that orders are delivered on time and in full.
  • Work with other departments to operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicate across all departments effectively within the organization

Role Key Deliverables

  • Zero injuries.
  • Zero environmental incidents.
  • Achieve key targets set by the Operations Manager including on-time delivery, supplier performance and evaluation, stock accuracy, and inventory levels.
  • Manage the use of capacity through effective production plans.
  • Mitigate price increases using techniques within the team and demonstrate the results to key stakeholders.
  • Cross train staff in all functions.
  • Manage supplier risk in and out of the business.
  • Ensure the supply chain can support and keep up with rapid growth of the business.
  • Ensure that the team adheres to health and safety policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities  

  • Working with the Operation Manager, to create and implement strategies which meet business objectives.
  • Provide monthly reports on the performance of the Supply Chain function to the Operations manager.
  • Determine and manage Key Metrics for Planning, Purchasing and Stores that enable the teams to meet targets and continually improve in the way they operate.
  • Analyse data from the functions to identify where improvements can be made in the processes.
  • Regularly review safety stock levels in line with forecast.
  • Work with buyers to regularly review contracts; manage supplier relationships and performance.
  • Control stock turns to enable the organization to operate in line with best in practice.
  • Manage the risk of suppliers to the business using auditing, supplier evaluation and supplier KPIs.
  • Working in collaboration with multiple departments that enable opportunities to reduce cost, improving quality, whilst improving the team’s efficiency.
  • Work closely with Engineering on NPD projects.
  • Create and maintain appropriate supply agreements.
  • Travel will be required from time to time in UK, Europe and sometimes worldwide.
  • Oversee component and product storage, handling, and distribution.
  • Train, develop and evaluate the team members.
  • Manage regular stock takes.
  • Carry out any additional duties that may be required from time to time.

Experience:

  • 5 or more years’ experience in a supply chain role.
  • Good technical background in manufacturing (not essential but desirable)
  • Degree, CIPS qualification, Diploma or equivalent (not essential but desirable)
  • Has experience in mitigating risk within a Supply Chain.
  • Proven track record of achievement in a relevant position
  • Good understanding of MRP, ERP systems
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience of designing and implementing supply chain strategies
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Solid IT skills
  • Great negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
