The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 53,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
The Procurement Manager will be responsible for ensuring all contracts (including consultant and all paid and pro bono clinical consultant roles) engaged by the College adhere to both the College’s and wider legislative policies and requirements. The role will utilise a good degree of autonomy in improving, developing, embedding and managing an end-to end process of contract issue, monitoring and management.
The successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate experience within a procurement, contract management and compliance role.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide contractual expertise to the College and oversee management of approximately 700 clinical and non-clinical consultant contracts.
- To manage and maintain an accurate College contracts register, including contract amendments and monitor and communicate contracts as they are due to expire
- To roll out and manage an ongoing training process for colleagues across all College sites on the process of engaging consultants and contract management.
- Assist the Senior Procurement Manager with projects and tender exercises where appropriate
Educated to degree level, or equivalent, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of legal contract terms for good and services, be self-reliant, have good problem-solving skills and be a team player.
The successful candidate will share our corporate values. In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions.
