As a National Procurement Manager, you’ll be a member of the Goods Not For Resale Team delivering multiple projects through the non-merchandise procurement process. You’ll be responsible for leading a team, as well as for successful stakeholder engagement throughout the business and with our suppliers, so it’s important you’re a confident individual.

Key responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement the category management plans to minimise the total cost of ownership for the category and realise savings, whilst ensuring the effective commercial delivery of projects, goods and services across the category.
  • In addition the role will be responsible for leading their team and for successful engagement with business functions and supplier stakeholders, as well as being responsible for the leadership of the full Procurement Team alongside colleagues on the Procurement Leadership Team.
  • Delivery of the Procurement vision and strategy
  • Delivery of Category Strategy and Category Plans
  • Delivery of savings/benefits against Category Plan and joint delivery of overall Central Procurement savings target
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and people management skills
  • Engaging and friendly, able to collaborate and bring colleagues on board with new initiatives
  • Proven ability in planning, organising and project management; able to prioritise multiple work streams and meet key deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with a transparent approach to working
  • Non-contracted spend and non-adherence to terms and conditions
  • Governance activities delivered to agreed targets and plans (e.g. projects, benefits delivery, contract governance)
  • SAP Ariba and eProcurement knowledge and experience
  • Business compliance to the end to end procurement process
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Leadership responsibility for one to three Procurement Assistants

Essential Skills Required:

  • Educated to 2:1 degree level or equivalent
  • Indirect and director procurement experience.
  • Experience of developing and implementing category strategies.
  • Category management experience.
  • Experience in category strategy development in multi-business unit environments, requiring strong relationship, facilitation and stakeholder management.
  • Track record of delivering savings from sourcing activity.
  • Proven excellence in contracting, including the drafting and negotiation of contracts which includes: schedules, commercials, and terms and conditions.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and people management skills.
  • Engaging and friendly, able to collaborate and bring colleagues on board with new initiatives.
  • Proven ability in planning, organising and project management; able to prioritise multiple work streams and meet key deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills with a transparent approach to working.
