Ref: HCAA00701

We have exciting opportunities for 2 new members of our Corporate Services Category team. You will be involved with a diverse range of procurement projects making sure they are conducted in line with the regulatory requirements, our Governance, policies and service priorities.

With the public sector facing major financial challenges over the coming years, getting value for money is more important than ever. We must ensure we can continue to provide excellent services for people who rely on them.

Ideally you will have public sector and preferably local authority experience and will be CIPS qualified or have equivalent strong procurement experience. All relevant qualifications, and including part qualifications will be checked.

You must be able to build positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders. We will need you to negotiate with external suppliers as well as trading units based within the Council. To thrive in this role, you will need a good understanding of commercially defined procurement, pragmatic behaviour, resilience, prudent judgement and discretion.

You should have solid IT skills. Preferably you will have sound knowledge drafting contracts. In addition, you should have a good and comprehensive understanding of Find a Tender processes and Public Contract Regulations (PCR 2015), and will need to be an able project planner with an eye for detail.

Should you wish to have an informal conversation regarding this role please contact Dawn Cafferty either by email via dawn.cafferty@hackney.gov.uk or by phone on 020 8356 8697.

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

When applying, it is essential to answer fully the application questions, demonstrating how your skills, knowledge and experience meet key aspects of the job description and person specification.

Closing date for applications: Sunday 6 February 2022.

Interviews: w/c 21st February 2022.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination

Company

Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, and first class transport connections, which combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector, are fast making it one of London's most popular areas to live, work and visit. The challenge for Hackney is to make sure that the borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.
