Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

The University seeks to recruit a new strategic member of its team in the role of Procurement Category Manager. This permanent role is one of three category roles in the procurement team. The post is a strategic high spend role supporting the Head of Procurement and the Senior Managers across the University to deliver critical medium and high value projects aligned to the University’s very demanding Strategic Plan & Vision BU2025.

The central Procurement team supports the organisation in delivering sustainable value for money across all purchases. We encourage a culture which fosters innovation, communication, collaboration and partnership with our customers and stakeholders in unlocking value now and for the future.

Procurement is an increasingly critical function, helping us to ensure that every penny we spend is spent wisely and has demonstrable returns. We work with our colleagues around the University to ensure that our suppliers and their supply chains are competitive, sustainable and ethical and help underpin our organisational values and objectives.

This is a Central Procurement role. This role will provide commercial procurement services using a Category Management approach across a wide spectrum of activities including Goods, Works and Services projects both medium and large scale. You will ensure that the procurement and supply chain objectives of the department are consistently achieved and are aligned with/in support of the department’s overarching strategic requirements and those of the University Strategic Plan and Vision including BU2025 and the other various key strategies including the Estates Development Framework and the IT Digital Enablers Strategy. As one of the three Procurement Category Managers with the central procurement team you will develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure we achieve value for money and provide technical expertise in advising, guiding and executing procurement processes, including both above and below threshold tenders.

Your proven skills and experience within cross functional teams coupled with your ability to work with and influence different groups of people and differing objectives related to Procurement as well as your keen eye for detail and analytical skills will be what sets you apart. You will be an experienced Category Manager, used to dealing with complex types of Procurement. You will be experienced managing stakeholder groups and will be skilled in delivering tangible value for money
