We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Specialist to join the buying team to carry out all aspects of purchasing and assist in the delivery of the strategic goals of the department.
You will report to the Procurement Manager and will be involved in delivering and supporting a range of purchasing requirements including developing and writing Procurement Strategies, Invitations to Tender and Tender Evaluation Reports to the required legislative and Trinity House standards and practices, this will require an exemplary level of attention to detail. You will have previous experience of completing over threshold tenders with excellent verbal and written communication skills; being able to liaise well with internal customers, external suppliers and other General Lighthouse Authorities, as well as having close contact with employees, managers and Directors as appropriate. You will have the skills to work on your own initiative, to manage all stages of the tender process within the Procurement Strategy timescales and also promote legal and best-practice compliance within the buying function.
This post requires a level 4 qualification in a related discipline (e.g Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) to Diploma level), working towards or a willingness to work towards the Advanced Diploma in Procurement & Supply. You will have previous broad experience working within a busy Procurement department, including running over threshold tenders. Your ability to plan, prioritise and organise tasks both short to mid-term must come as second nature, balanced with this, the ability to be flexible as priorities change. Good IT skills are essential, and previous experience within Public-Sector procurement would also be beneficial.
