The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications has responsibility for policy and programmes across a number of areas of national strategic importance, encompassing telecommunications including the National Cyber Security Centre and cyber security policy; energy; climate action; waste management and resource efficiency; environmental policy and air quality; postal; and natural resources.

 

The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is a major state project aimed at providing high-speed broadband to rural Ireland in areas not served by the commercial sector. Delivery of high capacity and reliable digital connectivity under the National Broadband Plan is fundamental to maintaining and enhancing competitiveness, as well as achieving sustainable, connected communities across Ireland.

 

Reporting to the Head of Network Deployment within the NBP Unit, the Subcontractor Agreement Manager and Procurement Lead will oversee the contract with National Broadband Ireland (NBI) and will work with the NBP Division/External Advisors and across other programme functions.

 

Successful candidates must have:

 

  • A qualification of at least level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications in Engineering, Telecommunications;
  • Significant experience working in the telecommunications sector including experience of leading a telecommunication network build function,
  • Experience in overseeing the delivery of contractual obligations towards a telecommunications or services subcontractor and managing compliance against this contract
  • Proven experience in building strong working relationships with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
