Procurement Category Lead - Social Care & Public Health

London

£66,435 - £67,521

Ref: HCAA00774

The Role:

Hackney Council is looking for someone with extensive procurement experience, specifically within the Social Care Service. As the public sector continues to face major financial challenges over the coming years, getting value for money is more important than ever. We must ensure we can continue to provide excellent services for people who rely on them.

You must be able to build fruitful working relationships with diverse stakeholders both within the organisation and externally. We will need you to negotiate and deal with external suppliers both as part of the tendering process and in ongoing management of contractual issues. To thrive in this role, you will need well developed judgement and discretion.

As Category Lead for social care services, you will be working with key stakeholders to manage a programme of major procurement projects relating to the provision of social care services across the Council including those contracting activities where we work with our partners within the public health service and as part of integrated commissioning. You will be required to provide high level specialist procurement advice to managers and co-ordinate procurement activities across this Category, making sure that service departments achieve best value from all their contracts and in the management of allocated contracts.

You will be leading on our most complex procurements for this category, making sure they are conducted in line with the regulatory requirements, our policies and service priorities.

You must have strong social care and health services procurement experience and knowledge with sound technical expertise of best practice within this industry. We need someone with an in-depth knowledge of contract regulations and a solid understanding of Public Contracts Regulation processes and their applications.

There is a lot of work to be done, so you will need to be an experienced project planner with an eye for detail.

At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving, and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation. If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey, please apply now.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about this post, please email Rotimi Ajilore at Rotimi.Ajilore@hackney.gov.uk to arrange a phone call.

The recruitment process is anonymous.

When applying, it is essential that you complete the application using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience.

When attaching your CV, please ensure any personal details are removed so your application remains anonymous.

Closing date: Sunday 5 June 2022.

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included, and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently under represented in our workforce.

Company

Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. Hackney has more green space than any other inner London borough, some of the capital's best schools, and first class transport connections, which combined with excellent local public services and a thriving arts, cultural and retail sector, are fast making it one of London's most popular areas to live, work and visit. The challenge for Hackney is to make sure that the borough's economic growth provides benefits for everyone who lives here, and to create opportunities that will transform the lives of local people.
