Senior Procurement Manager (Projects) £40,057 - £45,839 (AfC Band 7)

Our new Senior Procurement Manager (Projects) will join one of the largest Procurement & Logistics Departments in the country.

The Senior Procurement Manager (Projects) will take responsibility for leading high-value and complex tenders and contracts for goods and services, achieving the most economically advantageous outcomes for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trusts. You will develop strategies to meet the procurement needs of specialist product/service categories and the Trusts as a whole whilst achieving savings targets in line with the Trusts formal savings plan.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • To contribute to the development and implementation of Procurement strategy, supporting the Trusts’ business plans
  • To deliver against agreed annual cost reduction targets and report on action taken, taking specialist responsibility for specific Departments and product categories
  • Develop supplier relationships; negotiate with senior personnel of supplying companies, undertaking visits to supplier sites when appropriate
  • To liaise with senior procurement staff within other NHS Trusts, Purchasing Consortiums, and NHS Supply Chain, to identify opportunities for improving value
  • To establish service quality standards and thereafter to ensure the effective monitoring of contract performance
  • To ensure that Standing Financial Instructions and Standing Orders, EU Regulations and other statutory and regulatory requirements are followed, explaining legal obligations to untrained STH and SCH staff in other departments
  • Conduct formal high-value tenders in line with EU Legislation
  • Research the marketplace, giving due consideration to financial status of suppliers; ability to supply and maintain continuity of supply.  Undertake product and equipment evaluations/trials and site visits as necessary
  • Conduct detailed evaluation of tender returns, using appropriate financial assessment and purchasing and supply criteria.

The successful Senior Procurement Manager (Projects) will hold;

  • MCIPS or Degree in a relevant field such as Purchasing, Supply, Logistics
  • Minimum of 3 year’s direct involvement in Procurement
  • Responsibility for managing complex tenders
  • Experience of managing and developing staff
