Full-time, part-time, flexible working and job share opportunities are available

We’re looking for experienced Commercial Managers to play a leadership role on key contracts across our vitally important projects. If you’ve got big aspirations, our organisation will provide the tools to help you grow, learn, and achieve extraordinary things. That’s why we say, your ambition leads here.

About us

DE&S is an integral part of UK defence. We equip and support the UK’s armed forces as they protect life at home and overseas. As part of this, we procure the newest protective clothing for the frontline. We also create smarter tech for intelligence systems. And we make safer, more effective vehicles for land, sea and air. Our Commercial function is home to around 1,000 people. Everyone here is proudly working together to deliver procurement programmes with real-world impact – securing the tools and equipment the armed forces need to do their best, while ensuring compliance and best value for the UK taxpayer. We're currently recruiting for multiple opportunities available across DE&S, as well as within the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), our sister organisation, too.

About the role

As one of our Commercial Managers, you’ll provide commercial leadership across equipment contracts worth up to £10M. It will be your job to manage and motivate the teams who are negotiating terms, pricing, placing of contracts and amendments, as well as conducting due diligence and more. Working across pre-sourcing, sourcing, contract management, sales and disposal phases, you’ll advise and coach, collaborating with others to ensure we deliver. As part of this role, we’ll fund your Study for Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualifications. As you’ll discover, we’re serious about your continued professional development, and we’ll keep investing in your skills and career.

About you

To be successful in your application, you must demonstrate experience of managing sourcing or contract management activities. Help us feel confident that you’re able to lead, manage, and develop others, and demonstrate that you're confident using a  range of IT systems and programmes.

We'd love you to hold a relevant Level 4 or above qualification, but if you don't, we'll support you to achieve one. We'll take your development seriously, and be with you every step of the way.

The benefits

When you join DE&S, you’ll enjoy a generous employer pension contribution of around 27%. You’ll benefit from a clear career path with plenty of opportunities for progression. As well as access to specialist training and funded professional qualifications, you can expect plenty of support from colleagues and mentors. And you’ll be welcome to join a wide range of employee networks, including the Women’s Inclusive Network, Race & Culture Network, Pride Network, Disability Network, and more. We recognise that the best people for the job may have commitments outside of work, so we’re pleased to promote flexible working to support our colleagues in balancing work and home life.

Due to the nature of our work, please also note that some of the positions available will be open to sole UK nationals only.
