Job Summary
As a Category Team Leader for the Procurement Department you will report directly to the Procurement Team Leader, supporting the delivery of commercial strategies and Service Plans. You will be responsible for a team of professionally qualified personnel, offering support, guidance and expertise on commercial matters, whilst empowering the team to perform their duties as Category Leads when assisting the Business Owners they work with.
You will have an active role in driving the organisation’s Value For Money outcomes, improved corporate compliance, planning, performance, policy and strategy, in the context of procurement and category management.
You will assist the Procurement Manager in progressing the Procurement Service Plan, and will contribute to the delivery of the NRW Commercial Strategy, promoting good governance and compliance across NRW throughout.
Qualifications
- Full membership of The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) (Essential)
- Substantial experience as a Senior Procurement practitioner, in the application of knowledge and the specific requirements of the post, in particular Category Management.
- Financial and commercial management, leadership and influencing skills. (Essential)
- Transferrable experience of using commercial approaches to deliver business objectives. (Essential)
- Expert understanding and application of commercial concepts, practices, governance & techniques. (Essential)
- Transferrable experience of delivering complex commercial initiatives. (Essential)
- Relevant and recent experience of managing a commercial team. (Essential)
- Experience of managing a dispersed team remotely. (Desirable)
- High level understanding and experience of risk management and commercial accountability. (Desirable)
