Overview: 

Following a comprehensive review, our client is undergoing an exciting commercial transformation. They are taking a journey from a functional procurement unit to a dynamic, business-partnering function that consistently adds value throughout the commercial lifecycle. 

With a new structure defined, the organisation's Commercial Directorate is now looking to recruit a Commercial Manager. This role offers fantastic opportunities to develop your procurement skills and apply commercial best practice in everything you do, whilst working with £1bn in annual spend and supporting transformational projects across a UNECSO world heritage site. 

Working at this organisation will be a perfect fit for highly motivated individuals who enjoy complex work and a collaborative environment. It is not essential to have a background in the public sector – crucial will be your commercial acumen, judgment, and communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Undertake compliant end-to-end procurements. 

Support the delivery of your team’s category/project strategy for the relevant category/project team such as via undertaking market and supplier relationship analysis and benchmarking activities. 

Maintain a thorough understanding of your customers business and culture, supporting them in your role as Commercial Manager, helping to embed good contract management practices. 

Own your project data in e-sourcing system and support the active promotion of systems, tools, and data management to provide effective services. 

Develop knowledge of the obligations within Parliamentary contracts, maintaining knowledge of the levers, performance standards, and KPIs. 

Experience and Skills Required: 

An interest in procurement, ideally with 2 years commercial experience, where key achievements can be demonstrated.  

Knowledge of Procurement Legislation (Public Contract Regulations and the Defence & Security Public Contract Regulations.   

Experience at using systems to generate management information/reporting to drive decision making. 

Experience of working at varying levels with internal and occasionally external stakeholders.  Ability to develop rapport with colleagues and contacts, utilising negotiating and influencing skills to produce a positive outcome.
