This Fortune 500 foodservice firm are seeking a Soft Drinks Category Development Manager to join their elite £Multi-Billion procurement function in order facilitate the growth, implementation and execution of the Cold Beverages category strategy.

The Category Development Manager position is a very progressive role and a great next career step for a Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager or Category Manager who is seeking greater accountabilities to drive category strategies, develop the product range, attract new suppliers, negotiate, and deliver cost-savings. Within this role you will gain exposure to a diverse range of beverage suppliers and clientele which includes; supermarkets, offices, schools, hospitals, factories, major sports events and the hospitality industry.

Beverage Category Manager Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for the management of beverage category (circa £30m spend), defining and implementing the category strategy, collaborating with key stakeholders and supporting the head of retail in delivering £270m spend.
  • Accountable for managing the category pipeline which entails both identifying and executing opportunities to improve business activity and spend.
  • Collaborate, develop & maintain prosperous supplier relationships which promote innovation and category development - ensuring contract negotiations maximise commercial metrics.
  • End to end category management - Supplier contract management, range management and continuous improvement of processes.

Experience Required:

  • Strong understanding of the Cold Drinks Market and knowledge of the brands associated.
  • Previous experience within a procurement management role and a proven track record in managing a category.
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
  • Experience within the procurement and the capability to deliver category strategies which deliver on supplier cost savings.
  • A self-starter who is delivery, achievement and customer focussed with both a propensity to exceed expectations and the ability to thrive independently with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • A confident leader, communicator, influencer, negotiator & relationship builder. A professional who is detail orientated by nature and possesses the ability to problem solve.
  • Degree level or equivalent. MCIPS or CIPS is preferential.
