This is a unique opportunity for a HR & Professional Services Category Manager who is looking to take a step up to work for a globally recognized firm. This leading retail firm operates on a dynamic business model, they envision themselves as Procurement innovators, leveraging information from their worldwide buying presence whilst also possessing the financial muscle to invest in future business growth and development.

This HR & Professional Services role is based in Hertfordshire and is offering a Salary of £70 - £85k with a lucrative package (Bonus, Stock Options & Car Allowance).

Role Responsibilities

  • This role involves global strategic sourcing, and the category manager role is to execute global, international, and national HR and Professional Services category plans.
  • Maximises opportunities to leverage multi-divisional requirements to create larger pools of sourcing to increase savings.
  • Prepares a regional negotiation plan and executes accordingly involving legal as necessary.
  • Utilising sourcing processes including auctions and relationship management systems.
  • It is vital for the category manager to understand the trade-offs of risk, quality, and cost, and be able to manage each area through supplier management, contracting, and negotiations.

  • A successful category manager should be able to identify or develop and incorporate innovative products, services, approaches such as off-shoring, out-sourcing, consortia development, best country sourcing to support low-cost producer strategy.
  • The successful candidate should ensure contract compliance by implementing appropriate contractual terms and ensuring that the agreed terms are carried out in practice. The category manager is responsible for preparing HR + Professional Services category reports for their Manager and the wider procurement team.

  • The category manager raises market innovation for the HR and Professional Services category and brings applicable ideas to the business for testing, cost modelling and performance measurement.
  • The category managers role is to support the optimization of £800 million indirect spend. The successful candidate will undertake annual sourcing initiatives delivering between £1 and £2 million in yearly savings.
  • This role is responsible for the managing key strategic and day to day operational regional supplier relationships. Furthermore, vendor management and the harvesting of innovation from the vendor community is integral to this role.
  • The category manager is should also contribute to deciding negotiation plans and executing them accordingly, as well as, recommending final vendor selection.
