If you have experience of delivering procurement activity in a public sector environment, and have strong knowledge of contract and supplier management, join us as a Senior Commercial Manager.

You’ll be joining an expanding Commercial Team, supporting an exciting programme of commercial transformation and delivering commercial activity across a range of categories – people, property, digital & IT and market research. We’re focussed and ambitious about providing the best commercial outcomes to support the CMA’s work.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is the UK’s world-leading government body established to make sure competition works in consumers’ favour and businesses treat their customers fairly. What we do really matters and makes a difference to people’s lives.

You’ll be supporting portfolios of procurement activity and working with a diverse range of stakeholders. This will involve the placement and management of contracts across a variety of spend categories. You will develop sourcing and procurement strategies, manage key suppliers and ensure great value for money. You will also shape the future of the Commercial Team as it grows by contributing to our transformation programme of activity.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that contracts are let within agreed timescales and in a way that delivers value for money
  • Working closely with customers and the various service delivery functions to support the management of contracts
  • Management and pricing of contract changes and variations
  • Supplier dispute management
  • Providing expert commercial advice to staff at all levels on all aspects of commercial business

To succeed in this role, you will need to be professionally qualified (MCIPS) with Government Commercial Organisation accreditation or be willing to work to achieve such accreditation.

You’ll have good knowledge and experience of leading procurement from an end-to-end perspective and experience of contract and supplier management is equally important. You’ll have experience of delivering procurement activity within a public sector environment or similarly regulated sectors as well as experience in delivering commercial strategies.

In return the CMA is a hugely diverse, rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee assistance programme and flexible working options.

Closing date for applications: 11:55 pm on Monday 5th June 2023.

The CMA, like many other organisations, we operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working. We believe this supports us to deliver our best work while allowing the flexibility to maintain balanced and healthy lives. Our staff work at least 40% of their time from their office location.

The CMA are an accredited Disability Confident Employer, and we are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds.

We recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.
