This new competency assessment tool from CIPS should help with your professional development
What is the tool?
The self-assessment tool has been created to assist CIPS members’ learning and development and help them grow professionally. It aligns with the Global Standard for Procurement and Supply, and Knowledge, which in turn will help you plan your next career move.
What is it for?
The free tool has been developed to help members come up with a learning plan by identifying the skills they need to succeed. So not only will you be able to apply for the right jobs, when you do so you'll be able to make sure you have the skills you need.
What are the features?
It allows you to create a learning and development plan, which in turn will help you identify development needs that can be highlighted to your employer, help you plan for promotion, and prepare you for job reviews and appraisals.
How will this benefit my career development?
As part of the development process for this tool, hundreds of roles in procurement across the world were analysed to create 40 detailed job profiles.
Each of these profiles has been mapped against the themes and levels of the Global Standard. You can assess your own skills against capabilities identified in the Standard, and against the 40 job profiles.
A personalised report, produced following the assessment, will help you to create your own learning plan.
How do I access it?
Log into MyCIPS via cips.org to access your profile and navigate to the ‘My career’ section to find the tool and a guide on how to use it.
