Saudi back onside with Iraq

Earlier this month Saudi Arabia received an unequivocal thrashing from Iraq. In a football friendly played at Basra International Stadium, Saudi lost 4-1 to the home team.

The game was part of an initiative to convince FIFA to lift of a ban on international matches in Iraqi stadiums, and while losing perhaps left a bitter taste in some Saudi’s mouths, the game itself is a sign of changing times.
