The procurement process for a $1.912bn Antarctic icebreaker was “largely non-competitive” and did not provide value for money, said the Australian public spending watchdog.
Companies shortlisted for the Department of the Environment and Energy (DEE) project did not tender, following a failure to consult the industry on the procurement process, according to a report by the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO). As a result only one bid was received.
