Victoria has announced that companies will have to compete to supply the state with 650MWs of power, in its first major move towards reaching new renewable energy targets.
Premier Daniel Andrews announced he would be introducing legislation to “lock in” his government’s new Victorian Renewable Energy Target(VRET) of 25% by 2020 and 40% by 2025.
