The Australian government has announced a target to award 3% of domestic goods and services contracts to indigenous-owned firms this year.
The Indigenous Procurement Policy, which started in June 2015, initially targeted awarding 0.5% of domestic contracts to indigenous suppliers in 2015-16, based on statistics which showed the Commonwealth procured only $6.2m from such businesses in 2012-13.
