South Africa’s minister of finance Pravin Gordhan has pledged to introduce new legislation that will create a single procurement authority for the country.
During his budget speech Gordhan said a bill would “consolidate the currently fragmented regulatory environment, in keeping with section 217 of the constitution”, which says that public procurement process should be fair, equitable, transparent, competitive and cost-effective.
