China has said it is committed to upholding regional maritime security and order in the heavily contested South China Sea.
In a policy paper released on Wednesday, covering a number of regional security issues, China said it was in “all parties' common interest and consensus to maintain maritime peace, security and freedom of navigation and overflight” through the waters.
