Amazon has made its foray into the Middle East by buying the largest e-commerce platform in the Arab world.
The shopping giant announced it had reached an agreement to acquire Souq.com. The Dubai based online retail offers 8.4m products, sells to seven Arab countries and has local operations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia as well as the UAE. The acquisition will give Amazon access to 45m website visits from the region a month.
