New Zealand’s supply of fresh fruit and vegetables is falling short of demand, with Horticulture New Zealand (HNZ) warning there could be shortages of domestically grown food in the future.
Mike Chapman, HNZ chief executive, said a combination of extreme weather and the expansion of urban development into farmland had created a “perfect storm” for a fruit and vegetable supply shortage.
