Regional trade will create jobs and allow countries to prosper if South Asia’s trade barriers are removed.
A report revealed by reducing man-made trade barriers, trade within South Asia can grow by three times, from $23bn to $67bn. Currently intraregional trade is among the lowest at about 5% of total trade, compared with 50% in East Asia and the Pacific.
