China has announced it is suspending the production of more than 500 car models that do not meet its fuel economy standards – the latest move by Beijing to reduce emissions in the world’s largest market.
The government-affiliated China Vehicle Technology Service Centre said after approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the suspension on the production of 553 models took effect on 1 January.
