Queensland’s Townsville City Council is set to be investigated by the Local Government Department (LGD) over its decision to jointly fund a $30m airstrip for workers at a privately-owned coal mine.
The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) announced it requested the LGD to launch the investigation after Townsville businessman Philip Batty made a complaint to it about the council’s plans.
