China approves masterplan for new 'digital city'

China’s capacity to create vast new cities from scratch along the lines of the special economic zone at Shenzen is once again in the spotlight after the country’s central government approved a master plan for the Xiongan New Area.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council said its creation will carry “lasting importance for the millennium to come”.
