20 November 2018

More than 300,000 counterfeit Toyota parts, worth AED 15m, have been confiscated and destroyed across the UAE.

Al-Futtaim Toyota, the exclusive retailer of Toyota vehicles in the UAE, said it conducted 16 raids of car part dealers across the emirates in partnership with government authorities.

The majority of items confiscated were parts commonly used in servicing including oil filters, fuel filters and spark plugs.

Saub Abbasi, managing director of Al-Futtaim Toyota, said: “The negative safety and economic impacts, as a result of the use and trade of counterfeit parts, are tremendous.”

He added the success of the raids was only possible through collaboration between the company’s brand protection team, local Economic Department government officials and local police.

Al-Futtiam Toyota said it has trained more than 100 Economic Department field inspector across the UAE to increase awareness of, and help identify, counterfeit parts.
